How I made 500 Friends in Twitter yesterday

It’s all in the list

As with all things, know your limits

Yesterday I made 500 new friends on twitter, but I knew when to say when and call it a night.

This article focuses on garnering friends in the twitter environment, but I believe the concepts apply across the board in social media arenas everywhere. I discuss the tools I use, the limits that we all have to obey and where to find people who want to be friends with you. Twitter is the perfect micro-blogging system and you can use it with a computer or a cell phone and convey your message in 140 characters or less.

Topics covered in this free fifteen minute video include List Management, Twitter Follow and UnFollow limits, Twitter rules and best practices for automation. Also covered are tools like tweepi, tweetdeck and even twitter itself. All straight forward talk and following my basic precept that knowledge is free and we should seek to demystify a seemingly mystifying process. If you are going to move from a passive twitter growth methodology to an aggressive twitter growth environment, then the next 15 minutes are perfect for you.

I cannot stress that Twitter is the ultimate authority in determining what the rules are and any deviance from their Terms Of Service is likely to get your account suspended.

Twitter has rules, it is one of tips I give out every other day when I am in automation mode. They also have best practices and hard and fast limits. These limits are in place to prevent spam and abuse. The days of growing your twitter account by tens of thousands a day are over. The process is hard work and people will only remain your followers as long as you remain theirs. Twitter also watches for churn, the process of following and unfollowing large groups of people over and over again. The bottom line is that you can follow 1000 people in a 24 hour period and you can unfollow 1000 people in a 24 hour period. I chose to remain with my foot on the gas at %25 of the Twitter limits so my personal daily limits for this experiment was to follow not more than 250 a day and unfollow not more than 250 a day. The results are very impressive I believe and I think you will too.

I hope you enjoy this video and look forward to your comments.
